Saint Martin
St. Martin's Island is the only coral island and one of the most attractive Eco-Tourism destinations of Bangladesh. Bangladesh marine paradise is situated in the northeast part of the Bay of Bengal, about 9 km south off the angle of the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf peninsula and 8 km west off the northwest beach of Myanmar. It is at the mouth of the Naf River. This island is the southernmost part of Bangladesh. This island is known as Narikel Jinjira (Coconut Island). St. Martin's Island is an exclusive place for Island depart in Bangladesh. First agreement started just 250 years ago by some Arabian Sailors and named as ‘Zajira’. Consequently the local settlers named it as Narikel Jinjira. During British period the island was named as St. Martin Island.
The length of 12 km long sandy sea beach is very amusing with calm slope. Crystal clean water with rich biodiversity and fresh nature play the indispensable role to attract the tourists. There’s nothing more tough to do here than bathe up the rays, but its a clean and peaceful place without even a mosquito to disturb your quietness.
Chhera-dwip is a part of St. Martins Island but separated during tides. You can walk about two and a half hours from St. Martin’s Island or you can go there also by local motorboat or tourist boat. In that Island you will get the Corals - living and dead all over the Island .There is a small bush in the green part of Chhera-dwip, attractive the beauty of this island. People do not live in this Island, so suitable for the tourists to go there early and come back by afternoon.
The best time to tour to Saint Martin is from September to April. At that time, the season is appropriate for travelling to Saint Martin
